The Mighty Blueberry
Take the winter blues out of the season and let the berries have it! When combined with a good protein source like chia seeds, blueberries have the potential to lift your spirits. Latest research shows that blueberries eaten with a food source containing tryptophan and tyrosine are effective against psychological disorders such as Post-Partum Depression (1). On top of that, there is scientific evidence that these mighty berries are capable of helping your body produce nitric oxide, which has been shown to lower blood pressure (2).
Serendipitously, we have a Blueberry Ginger and Chia Seed Compote that may be your best friend this winter! It is made without added sugar, yet absolutely delicious. Try it with granola, on your favourite yogurt or oatmeal, and even add a heaping spoonful to your tea! We hope that you’ll stay cheerful all year round!
